Dans ce nouveau solo, la danseuse et artiste pluridisciplinaire chanti wadge, explore son thème de prédilection du mouvement dans ses états et étapes différents de l’être, de devenir et de l’entre d’eux. One Hundred Returnings est une exploration sur le retour du corps humain vers son contexte naturel plus large dans lequel le corps en mouvement est part d’un monde vivant en mouvement constant. La performance est basée sur des morceaux chorégraphiés et des structures d’improvisation. La première version aura lieu à Danse a Lille le 24 mars 2007 et continuera ensuite à être développé par des études de danse butoh au Japon en mai 2007.

BIOGRAPHIE

Chorégraphe et interprète éclectique, Chanti Wadge peaufine ses performances basées sur le mouvent, des installations vidéo, des dessins et collages, la photographie et l’écriture. Cette autodidacte explore dans ses oeuvres la corrélation du contemporain à l’ancien, du formel au informel, du personnel au public. Influencée par ses études personnelles et universitaires, Chanti se concentre sur le potentiel viscéral de la danse et du multimédia pour questionner des curiosités humaines actuelles et universelles.

Depuis le début de sa carrière en 1999 à Vancouver, Chanti a présenté son travail à travers le Canada. En 2001 elle a
été invitée à présenter un de ses projets en république tchèque à Tanec Praha. En 2001 elle a aussi enseigné au danse festival de Gdanz en pologne. Installé depuis 2002 à Montréal elle y a montré un grand nombre de chorégraphies et projets multimédia. En 2006 elle était invitée comme chorégraphe résident avec la compagnie O Vertigo et invité en résidence pour un solo à Berlin à la Tanzwerkstaat. En 2007 elle présentera sa première de One Hundred Returnings à Lille en France et continuera sa recherche chorégraphique au Japon et en Corée. Artiste chevronée et accomplie Chanti Wadge a depuis 1999 aussi travaillé pour d’autres au Canada, Les USA et en Europe (Jose Navas, Ginette Laurin, Isabelle Van Grimde, Andrew Harwood, Benoit LaChambre, Emmanuel Jouthe, Edam Dance, Lee Su Feh...). Chanti a reçu de notables mentions d’excellence dans la presse:« THE MOST ESSENTIAL DANCER OF THE YEAR » (HOUR, 2004 AND BALLET TANZ, 2004), THE DANCE« TÊTE FORTE »(ICI, 2004), « DANSE COUP DE COEUR » (LA PRESSE, 2005) AND « MULTIDISCIPLINARY TALENT » (THE MIRROR 2006.).

In her new solo, dance and multidisciplinary artist Chanti Wadge draws on her study of moving through various states and stages of ‘being, becoming, and in-between One hundred returnings is an exploration on the return of the human body to its larger natural context which the body reflects and is reflected within in every moving moment. The performance of One Hundred Returnings will be premiered at Danse a Lille and will be further developed through butoh study in Japan in May 2007.
 

Artist Biography

The eclectic works of Chanti Wadge range from movement-based performances, videos, installations, drawing and collage, photography and writing. As a self-taught creator, her works span a diverse universe and invariably explore a play between the contemporary and the ancient, the informal and the formal, the personal and the public. Influenced by university and personal studies in psychology, anthropology and the humanities, Chanti focuses on the visceral potential of dance to inquire into both imminent and timeless human curiosities.

Since beginning her career in 1999 in Vancouver, Chanti has presented her work across Canada. In 2001 she was invited to present work at Tanec Praha in the Czech Republic. In 2001 she also taught at the University of Dance Festival in Gdansk, Poland. Since 2002 she has presented numerous choreographic works in Montreal. In 2006 she was invited as choreographer-in-residence with the O Vertigo danse company and for a solo creation residency in Berlin through Tanzwerkstaat. In 2007 she will present her premiere of 100 Returnings in Lille, France and will continue her choreographic research in Japan and Korea.

Since 1999 Chanti has also performed for others across Canda, the USA and Europe - (Jose Navas, Ginette Laurin, Benoit LaChambre, Emmanuel Jouthe, Gioconda Barbuto, Isabelle Van Grimde and Andrew Harwood, Lee Su Feh, and EDAM Danse…) Chanti has earned notable year-end media mentions: « the most essential dancer of the year » (Hour, 2004 and Ballet Tanz, 2004), the Dance« tete forte » (Ici, 2004), « Danse Coup de Coeur » (La Presse, 2005) and « multidisciplinary talent » (the mirror 2006.).
