When you have done all your filming, all animations are pretty much finished, whether you already knew what to say by following a script, a storyboard or.. that you need to figure out how to piece a puzzle from a bunch of shots like you do in a documentary, there is so much creativity and surprises that happen in this moment, it’s the time for inventing rhythms, make breathing space, alternate speed and propose many varied entry points. It’s where the magic happens.

A travers tes yeux / Documentary

In this intimate documentary, filmmaker and actor Brigitte Poupart lends her camera to her daughter Fabiola, allowing the young woman to speak for herself. Adopted at the age of three in Port-au-Prince, Fabiola travels with her mother to Haiti in search of her biological family. As they meet people and uncover stories, another life begins to take shape, revealing the harsh reality faced by many girls on the island. This journey of rediscovery becomes a transformative experience for both mother and daughter, offering a powerful exploration of identity, resilience, and sisterhood.

OVER MY DEAD BODY / Documentary

Over My Dead Body
, directed by Brigitte Poupart, is a raw and emotionally charged documentary following acclaimed choreographer Dave St-Pierre as he defies both artistic convention and the limits of his own body, battling cystic fibrosis with uncompromising intensity. The film mirrors Dave’s impulsive, restless spirit through its visceral rhythm and visual tone. As co-editor, Johnny Ranger helped shape the film’s bold, kinetic editing style — weaving tension, tenderness, and chaos into its emotional arc. He also contributed motion design elements and filmed key studio sequences that became iconic visuals for the film’s poster and publicity, reinforcing the raw physicality and vulnerability at its core.

MELODIE NOIR / PAT WATSON
Video clip

Mélodie Noir is a moody, impressionistic music video co-directed by Patrick Watson and Brigitte Poupart, set to a sensual, dreamlike track inspired by Venezuelan folk legend Simón Díaz. Shot in black and white by acclaimed cinematographer André Turpin, the piece follows a surreal, slow-burning choreography in which a central figure is gradually consumed by a void, embodied through the movements of a Colombian dance troupe. As video editor, Johnny Ranger sculpted the final rhythm and emotional pacing of the piece with Patrick Watson’s input, weaving together intimate performances and expressive camera work into a hypnotic, poetic whole that mirrors the song’s haunted tenderness.

MEMORY / INA FILIP

MUSIC VIDEO : "Memory" from the EP "Syena", released by Sonic Turtle Music.
Written and performed by : Ina Filip, C# Orchestra, Adham Shaikh

This video offers a meditative journey through layered elemental textures. Created around the work of land artist Philippe Fleury, along with macro cinematography created by Mark Ó Fearghaíl and Johnny Ranger of specific chemical reactions, the piece alternates between these micro-worlds and the wider landscapes where Philipe’s sculptures are embeded. It contrasts intimate inner terrains with the vastness of the surrounding environment in different seasons, creating a floating, detached vision of nature—both as it is and as it is symbolized.

Ballet of war / Johnny Ranger

Viewers are free to interpret the meaning of this short piece. It was created quickly and very instinctively, guided primarily by the rhythm of editing and the juxtaposition of images. Through editing choices and the creation of visual elements, the intention was to create a tension between grace and violence, beauty and the indifference of power.

What initially felt like imagery from another era of conflict unfortunately remains painfully current and was created a week before U.S. attack on Iran. The editing rhythm became the main tool to shape that feeling—somewhere between fascination, helplessness, and reflection.
